Summary: When people bring up a series that stars a group of teenagers with attitude, big brightly-colored mechas, and a whole bunch of cheesy special effects, chances are their minds are going to immediately go to the "Power Rangers" franchise. This series has gone on for years, with all sorts of different incarnations. When Hollywood got its hands on it (for the third time), the results...could have been better, but also a lot worse.

History: Long ago before mankind even existed, a grand betrayal occurred. You see, the Power Rangers are a group of warriors tasked with protecting both Earth and the Zeo Crystal, an artifact of great power. However, the Green Ranger, the conniving and ambitious Rita Repulsa, was driven by a lust for power, and Red Ranger Zordon was forced to send meteors upon Earth to seal her away forever (also, it killed the dinosaurs). Millenia later, and through human ignorance, Rita has been unearthed. Now, she seeks to get as much gold as possible to resurrect a titan named Goldar, find the Zeo Crystal, and take over Earth. The good news is that a bunch of teens from Angel Grove stumbled upon Zordon's lair, and have become the new Power Rangers!

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After Rita makes it to Angel Grove with her army of rock-encrusted Putties, she brings forth Goldar as well, and all seems lost. Thankfully, the Rangers had already finally unlocked the Morphing Grid that gives them their true powers, and they unleash the robotic Zords on the army. When that doesn't work, the Zords merge into the Megazord to fight Goldar. The heroes win, and after Rita declares that the fight isn't over, she's slapped all the way into space.

Powers/Abilities: With the more power Rita gains, the more dark magic she can use to manipulate the elements, create new monsters, and do other logic-defying things. Goldar is also practically unstoppable by conventional means.

Weakness: Beings of equal or greater power.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-For modern interpretations, these villains are quite the presence. Rita is front and center, though in spite of her baroness demeanor and imposing powers, she has her moments where she just looks like an armored stripper (that scene with her in the Krispy Kreme was just unforgiveable). Her breakdown after her defeat also suggests that she's rather torn up about where her life led, but the movie wasn't all that interested in exploring that. As for Goldar, putting aside how it looks almost nothing like the original, it is way scarier, being a winged golem of molten gold. Had it not been for the Power Rangers, the takeover of Earth would have been very easy.

Trivia: -In the original series, Goldar looks like an anthropomorphic winged gorilla wearing golden armor, and is Rita's most loyal servant. While a warrior at heart, he has his comedic moments, and had much more of a personality than the charmless being in the film. As for Rita, it's well-known how utterly hammy and overdressed she was in the original series, with her shrieking almost every line she says. However, she would become a good guy later in the franchise, even gaining the title of Mystic Mother. Still has headaches, though.

-This film had FIVE planned sequels to it, but the mixed reception and its nature as a box-office bomb (some blame the PG-13 rating) canned that prospect. Now, Hasbro has been rumored to want to try and reboot it again. Give it a few more years, folks.

The grid comes online once more.

Imagine getting the sand particles out of that?

"I'm a Mammo-corn!"

Looks like somebody's GREEN WITH EVIL.

More like Pebble Patrol, right?

Sparks will fly any second now...right?
Go-go-what are those thiiings?!

Glad she never skips paw-day.

Aye-aye-aye! YOU LOOK LIKE AN ABOMINATION!

"If any of you give me a headache..."

Even when you're ravaging the world, consider your empty stomach.

Some days, you have to consider why you have a giant combiner staring you in the face.
When you give the keys of making Zords to a bunch of abstract artists.

"I CAN'T SEE A DAMN THING! Is this because my flesh counterpart charges a lot?"

Say what you will, but Zedd is VERY MUCH spoken for now.

Where's the whistle?!

[This keyboard has malfunctioned due to intense fan-rage]
It's Money Time-The Movie's actual tagline.

Time for the power of...a Cybertronian jet?!

"MY ART DECO EXHIBIT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SUCCESS!"

"At least we do things in this iteration."
